Ang Simbahan Sa Pagpangamuyo Sa Bulahan Nga Birhen Maria, Orthodox temple in Kagalnik, Russia
The Pokrov Church is a stone structure featuring characteristic 18th-century baroque elements, including original semi-domes above the central prayer hall. The building displays the typical layout of an Orthodox temple with supporting columns and religious imagery throughout.
The temple was constructed between 1784 and 1789 near the village cemetery and underwent major expansion in 1867 funded by merchants Lisitsyn and Kopeykin. These additions strengthened its structure and role within the community.
The church conducts services in Church Slavonic and preserves Orthodox traditions for worshippers who gather here. People come together for major religious holidays and celebrations throughout the year.
Religious ceremonies and celebrations take place regularly at the temple, with special services held on October 14 to honor the Protection of the Virgin Mary. It is helpful to check timing before visiting and to dress respectfully when attending services.
Between 1938 and 1943 the building served as storage for mineral fertilizer and temporarily lost its religious purpose. It returned to its function as a place of worship in 1945.
