Amur GPP, Natural gas processing plant in Svobodnensky District, Russia.
Amur GPP is a natural gas processing plant located in the Far East of Russia that separates raw gas into its component parts. The facility operates multiple processing lines that work in parallel to extract different gases and extract valuable materials from the incoming gas streams.
The plant began construction in 2015 as part of a major gas infrastructure project in eastern Russia. It was built to process gas from a newly developed pipeline and to make regional energy resources available for wider use.
The facility created 3,000 permanent positions for local residents, transforming the regional employment landscape and industrial expertise development.
The plant is located in a remote region of the Russian Far East and is not open to public visits. Like all large-scale industrial gas facilities, access is restricted and only possible with special authorization and strict safety protocols.
The plant produces helium, a rare gas that is manufactured in only a few locations worldwide. This gas has many applications in science and industry, making this facility one of the few places globally where such production occurs at scale.
