Kajen 4, Residential building in Liljeholmskajen, Sweden
Kajen 4 is a residential complex at the waterfront in Liljeholmskajen with a 24-story tower approximately 75 meters tall connected to an eight-story lower section. The development combines apartments with commercial spaces on the ground floor and accommodates different dwelling sizes.
Construction began in 2014 under architect Gert Wingårdh and marked a significant shift in how Liljeholmskajen's waterfront was developing. The completed structure received Stockholm's Building of the Year award in 2015, establishing a benchmark for future waterfront projects in the city.
The building shapes the character of Liljeholmskajen and draws visitors interested in modern residential design and contemporary urban living. It has become a landmark that people recognize and reference when discussing Stockholm's waterfront transformation.
Access to the building and its surroundings is convenient from the waterfront promenade where parking and public areas are available. Visitors can explore the ground-floor shops and use the surrounding esplanade for walking, giving a good sense of daily waterfront activity.
The tower features round balconies at each corner that gradually expand in size as they rise, creating a distinctive visual pattern from street level. This progressive widening makes the building appear lighter toward the top and sets it apart from typical residential towers.
