Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Urban park in central Singapore.
Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is a 62-hectare space in central Singapore with a 3-kilometer river that winds through the grounds, landscaped gardens, and open areas. Multiple pathways thread through natural vegetation, connecting different sections and allowing visitors to explore the entire site on foot.
The park began in 1988 as a buffer zone separating Ang Mo Kio and Bishan towns. In 2012, it was redesigned as an integrated water management system that improved how the river flows through the area.
Residents use different areas of the park for morning exercise routines, with traditional Chinese practices like qigong and chapteh woven into daily life. These activities show how the space fits into the neighborhood's daily rhythm.
The park has multiple entrances and connects directly to Bright Hill MRT station, making it easy to reach from different parts of the city. Parking, restrooms, and food options are spread throughout the grounds at various locations.
The Kallang River runs through the park in a naturalized riverbed that expands during heavy rainfall, storing significantly more water when needed. This design shows how green spaces can work as functional flood management tools.
