Thomson Nature Park, Nature park in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore.
Thomson Nature Park is a nature reserve in Ang Mo Kio covering about 50 hectares with five interconnected trails stretching roughly 3.8 kilometers through forested sections and former settlement grounds. The paths wind through thick vegetation and past preserved remnants from earlier times.
The area housed a settlement of Hainan immigrants from the 1800s until 1975, where residents maintained homes and farms. The land was later converted into a protected natural area.
The land preserves traces of Singapore's past with original street signs and building foundations from a 1960s settlement still visible along the paths. These remnants tell the story of a time when the area was home to residents and part of the city's daily life.
The park is open daily with walkable paths that are easy to navigate and clearly marked throughout. Several bus stops nearby connect the site to other parts of the city.
The area is home to rare animals such as Raffles' banded langurs, a monkey species found in few other places in the city. Pangolins and porcupines also inhabit the forest, using it as a refuge.
