Sembawang Hot Spring Park, Natural hot spring park in Sembawang, Singapore.
Sembawang Hot Spring Park is a thermal spring area in the district of the same name in northern Singapore. The water flows through a terraced pool with four levels that cool it to a more comfortable temperature as it descends.
Workers discovered the spring in the early 20th century while planting rubber trees in the area. The company Fraser and Neave used the thermal water in the following decades for a bottled drink called Seletaris.
Families bring raw eggs and cook them in shallow containers that hold the hot spring water. This habit has continued for decades and connects visitors to a simple pastime that older generations still remember from their childhood.
The foot baths allow you to soak your feet and legs in warm water, while taps with buckets enable collection for home use. Shaded spots under trees invite you to linger, and a small café at the edge provides guests with drinks and snacks.
The site has only one partner spring on Tekong Island, which is a military restricted area and remains inaccessible to civilians. This spring is therefore the only one where locals and visitors can experience the natural warmth without restrictions.
