Bird Paradise, Bird park in Mandai, Singapore
Bird Paradise is a bird park in Mandai, Singapore, that combines climate-controlled halls with replicated habitats, showcasing more than 3,000 birds from every continent. The facility includes eight different zones, among them wetlands, rainforests and highlands, each hosting its own community of birds.
The facility opened in May 2023, replacing the earlier Jurong Bird Park, which had welcomed visitors for over 50 years. The new site sits within a wildlife reserve and was designed according to modern animal husbandry standards.
The name refers to the lush tropical surroundings and the open aviaries where birds live without barriers. Visitors walk through areas where parrots perch in the trees and waterbirds wade along shallow shores, just as they would in the wild.
The facility opens daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, and the best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when birds are more active. The pathways lead through both indoor and outdoor sections, so comfortable footwear is helpful.
The crowned hornbill section houses one of the largest groups of these rare African birds outside their home continent. This hall was designed to replicate a West African forest, complete with multiple layers of vegetation.
