Bright Hill MRT station, MRT station in Singapore
Bright Hill MRT Station is an underground station on the Thomson-East Coast Line in Singapore, located beneath Sin Ming Avenue. It has two platforms positioned in the middle of the tracks, four entrances, and sits approximately 66 feet (20 meters) below ground to serve the local area.
Construction of the station began around 2014 as part of a plan to expand Singapore's train network. It opened in August 2021 and will eventually connect to the Cross Island Line, expected around 2030.
The station's name comes from a nearby columbarium that gives the area its character. The artwork "A Kaleidoscopic Nature" on the walls displays colorful plant images and connects the station with the natural surroundings that define the neighborhood.
The station connects easily to nearby bus stops and has bicycle racks for multimodal travel. The four entrances lead to different areas, making it simple to reach nearby schools, parks, and residential neighborhoods.
The station was built through hard granite, requiring special drilling techniques and over 1,000 piles to support the structure. It also functions as a civil defence shelter, capable of holding up to 6,000 people with protective features in emergencies.
