Chata pod Borišovom, Mountain hut at 1300 meters in Necpaly, Slovakia.
Chata pod Borišovom is a mountain hut in the Veľká Fatra range in Slovakia, sitting at roughly 1300 meters between the peaks of Borišov and Ploská. It stands at the upper end of the Ľubochnianska Dolina valley and offers basic overnight stays with food service.
The hut was built as a shelter for mountaineers exploring the Veľká Fatra range and continues a tradition of Slovak mountain tourism that goes back well over a century. It has remained a working stop for hikers ever since it opened.
The dining room displays regional artifacts and decorations representing mountain heritage of the Liptov area. You will see traditional tools and old photographs on the walls that tell stories of local mountaineering traditions.
The hut has a small number of beds, so booking ahead is a good idea, especially on weekends and in summer. It can only be reached on foot along marked hiking trails, so sturdy footwear is a must.
Because there is no road access, all supplies are carried in on foot by the staff along mountain paths. This means that even the food on your plate has made a real journey to get there.
