Mueang Roi Et, Administrative district in Roi Et, Thailand.
Mueang Roi Et is the main administrative district at the heart of Roi Et province in northeastern Thailand. It is divided into 15 sub-districts that together form numerous villages and communities, serving as the economic and administrative center of the region.
The district received its current name in 1913 after being previously known as Pachin Roi Et. This change marked an important administrative reform that modernized how local governance was structured.
Each of the 15 sub-districts maintains independent tambon organizations that oversee local community development and preserve regional traditions.
Visitors can explore the various sub-districts by car or other transportation since roads connect to neighboring districts. It helps to have a map or ask local guides to discover the different communities and their specific features.
The central area features the Roi Et lake, alongside which stands a 101-meter observation tower shaped like a traditional circular panpipe. This distinctive tower serves as a local landmark and offers wide views over the city and surrounding areas.
