Nong Bun Mak spans across 590 square kilometers of northeastern Thailand, encompassing nine subdistricts and 104 villages within its boundaries.
The district emerged from three tambons separated from Chok Chai district in 1983, receiving its current designation as a full district in 1989.
Each of the nine tambons maintains its own administrative organization, preserving local governance traditions and community management practices.
The district connects with Nong Ki of Buriram province and three districts of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, offering strategic access through multiple transportation routes.
The district headquarters operates from Nong Hua Raet, coordinating administrative functions for a population of over 60,000 residents across its territory.
