Gilindire Cave, Nature park and show cave in Aydincik, Turkey
The cave extends 555 meters into the mountain, featuring extensive limestone formations, columns, and a large underground lake with mirror-like reflections.
The cave, discovered by a shepherd in 1999, was declared a Natural Monument in 2013 and opened for public visits in 2014.
The name Gilindire derives from the ancient port city of Kelenderis, which was an important Roman settlement in the Mediterranean region.
Visitors need to descend 567 metal steps to reach the cave entrance, where the temperature remains constant at 20-21 degrees Celsius throughout the year.
The cave contains a 140-meter-long underground lake with a depth of 47 meters, containing both fresh and salt water sections.
