Sevenoaks, Administrative district in Kent, England.

Sevenoaks is a non-metropolitan district in Kent, England, where towns and villages sit alongside working farmland and green spaces. The area contains the upper valley of the River Darenth and the headwaters of the River Eden.

The district was formed on April 1, 1974, when three separate local government areas were combined into one. This reorganization created the administrative structure that continues to manage the region today.

The name comes from seven oak trees that once stood in the town center and served as a gathering place for the community. This connection to nature and community gathering still shapes how people in the area relate to their public spaces.

The area is easiest to explore by train to the main towns or by car using local roads. Spring and autumn offer the best weather for walking through fields and visiting village centers.

The Green Belt protecting London from sprawl covers most of the district, keeping nearby villages from merging into suburban development. This protection has preserved the character of small communities despite their closeness to the capital.
