Bera Bach, Mountain summit in Gwynedd, United Kingdom

Bera Bach is a mountain summit in the Carneddau range of North Wales, featuring a prominent rocky formation at its peak and steep flanks characteristic of upland terrain. The surrounding slopes display the rugged rock and sparse vegetation typical of this Welsh mountain area.

This mountain bears clear marks from extensive glacial activity during the last Ice Age, which shaped its current geological features and rocky formations. These processes created the steep ridges and carved valleys that characterize the Carneddau range today.

The name Bera Bach comes from Welsh and means small rick or stack, yet this summit stands taller than the neighboring peak Bera Mawr, which translates to big rick. This naming paradox reflects old traditions where names described shape or other characteristics rather than height.

The summit is accessible via several walking routes, with main paths starting from Aber Falls or Bethesda and passing through neighboring peaks. Spring through early autumn offers the most reliable conditions for hiking and navigation.

Despite its name meaning small, this mountain has earned several official classifications among Welsh peak lists used by hillwalkers. The ranking system creates a surprising discovery for visitors expecting a lesser-known hill.
