Leake Street, Street art tunnel in Lambeth, England

Leake Street is a 300-meter tunnel beneath Waterloo Station where every surface showcases graffiti art created by professional and amateur artists. The walls transform continuously as new works cover older pieces, making each visit reveal different compositions.

The inaugural Cans Festival in May 2008, organized by street artist Banksy, transformed this tunnel into a dedicated art space. Since then it has operated as a legal graffiti zone managed by Network Rail.

The railway arches below house diverse food and drink spots where local communities gather and artists find inspiration. Polish cuisine, American-style bars, and board game clubs create a social meeting place that attracts different crowds.

The tunnel welcomes visitors around the clock, making it possible to watch artists at work or join informal workshops at any time. The location sits directly below Waterloo Station, so access is straightforward from the main transport hub.

Network Rail permits artistic creation here, making it London's longest legal wall for graffiti art and a rare authorized space. Artists can leave their mark without legal consequences, which distinguishes it from other urban art locations.
