Leslie Castle, Medieval castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Leslie Castle is a stone castle with an L-shaped floor plan and a square tower containing a central staircase illuminated by interior lamps. The structure displays traditional Scottish masonry work and has remained largely unchanged since its original construction.
The castle was built around 1661 for William Forbes of Monymusk, replacing an earlier wooden structure on the site. Its original form remained largely intact until changes were made in 1820.
The castle hosted a significant Leslie Clan Gathering in 1995, reinforcing its connection to Scottish heritage and family traditions.
The castle operates as a guesthouse offering several room types, with evening meals available in the Baronial hall by request. Visitors should check opening times ahead of arrival and confirm room availability before planning their stay.
During restoration work in the 1980s, builders reused stones from nearby fallen cottages to rebuild sections of the castle walls. This approach connected the structure's renewal with the material history of the surrounding community.
