Lickleyhead Castle, Category A listed castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Lickleyhead Castle is a category A listed fortress in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, built on an L-shaped plan. The north front displays two-storey turrets that project outward, while a semi-circular stair tower leads upward to a raised watch room.
The estate originally belonged to Clan Leslie before passing to William Leith in the 13th century. The Leith family retained ownership until 1625.
The building takes its room names from Scottish noble families and displays furniture from past centuries. One chamber contains a box bed that once offered warmth and privacy during cold winters.
The building can be booked as accommodation and offers space in several sections for groups of different sizes. The entire complex holds up to 16 adults and two children.
William Forbes, once a resident here, accidentally shot off his own hand. Locals interpreted this as punishment for killing Alexander Irvine.
