IDS Center, Glass skyscraper in downtown Minneapolis, United States.

The IDS Center features 57 floors of office space, a glass facade, and reaches a height of 792 feet as the tallest building in Minnesota.

Completed in 1972, the IDS Center surpassed the Foshay Tower's 43-year record as Minneapolis's tallest structure and became the headquarters of Investors Diversified Services.

The building's ground floor Crystal Court functions as a gathering space with trees, retail shops, and connections to Minneapolis's skyway system.

The structure contains 32 corner offices per floor, multiple dining venues, retail spaces, and the 19-story Marquette Hotel with conference facilities.

Communication spires mounted on the roof extend the building's total height to 910 feet and serve as backup broadcasting points for local radio stations.

Philip Johnson architecture through modernist design

Philip Johnson created notable buildings across the United States and Europe. His works include the Glass House in New Canaan, the Seagram Building in New York, and the Puerta de Europa in Madrid. His designs combine modernism with classical elements and shape the skylines of New York, Houston, and other cities.
