Flying Super Saturator, Steel roller coaster in Carowinds, North Carolina
Flying Super Saturator was a water-themed steel coaster at Carowinds that combined traditional coaster thrills with interactive water features. The ride integrated spray elements and water payloads to create a soaking experience as passengers traveled through the track.
The ride opened at Carowinds in 2000 and operated seasonally during warm weather months. It was removed in 2008 to make room for a different attraction on the same site.
The World Waterpark Association recognized Setpoint USA with an innovation award for creating this water-integrated roller coaster design.
Riders needed to meet a minimum height requirement to board this attraction. The coaster transported multiple groups each hour in four-seat vehicles designed for the water-spraying experience.
Passengers could release 4-gallon water payloads while riding, and ground visitors controlled water cannons to spray passing coaster cars.
