Fort Ruckman, Military fortification in Nahant, US.
Fort Ruckman encompasses 45 acres of coastal land northwest of Bass Point, featuring concrete casemates and underground military structures.
The United States Army constructed Fort Ruckman in 1924 as part of the Harbor Defenses of Boston, incorporating two 12-inch guns for coastal protection.
The fort served as a center for military innovation, contributing to radar research and development through the Army/Lincoln Labs Nike program.
Current visitors can observe remaining concrete structures and walkways, while most of the former military grounds now function as residential areas.
The fort contained 151-ton guns mounted on Model 1917 carriages, capable of protecting the coastline from Gloucester to North Scituate.
