Grace Church

Grace Church in downtown Providence displays pointed arches and detailed stonework characteristic of Gothic Revival design. An attached parish house from 1912 connects through narrow stairwells and passages, creating additional space for community gatherings.

The church began in 1829 when 25 members broke away from St. John's Episcopal Church to establish a new congregation on Providence's west side. This founding marked the expansion of Protestant organizations in the city during the 1800s.

About a mile southwest sits a separate cemetery with a granite receiving vault built directly into a raised mound. This unusual structure from 1850 displays Greek Revival design and is often overlooked by visitors exploring the main church.
