Lynn Armory, Military armory on South Common Street, Lynn, United States.
The Lynn Armory is a military building constructed from red sandstone with two round towers along the South Common area in Lynn. The main structure features a crenellated entrance section connected to a large attached drill shed that once served training purposes for soldiers.
The building was designed in 1893 by architect Holman K. Wheeler and reflects military architecture of the late 1800s. It received historic designation in 1979 and later became part of a historic district in 1992.
The structure combines military functionality with architectural elements through its head house, drill shed, and castle-influenced design features.
The building sits in an accessible area of the city and can be viewed from outside to see the full structure. The surrounding space allows visitors to walk around and observe the towers and attached sections from different angles.
The former military facility is currently being transformed into residential space specifically for veterans. This renovation project connects the building's military heritage with a modern social purpose.
