Lordstown Assembly, Automotive assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, US

Lordstown Assembly is an automotive plant in Ohio designed to manufacture and assemble vehicles using multiple production lines that operate simultaneously. The facility contains separate sections for vehicle assembly, metal fabrication, and paint application to handle different production stages.

General Motors opened this facility in 1966 and began production with the Chevrolet Impala before transitioning to other vehicle models. The plant ceased operations under General Motors in 2019 but was acquired by a new company a few years later.

The 1972 Lordstown Strike influenced labor relations across the automotive industry and brought national attention to manufacturing workplace conditions.

The site sits near major transportation routes and is easily accessible by vehicle. Keep in mind that this is an active manufacturing facility, so safety regulations and access restrictions apply to visitors.

Foxconn acquired the facility in 2022 with plans to convert it into an electric vehicle manufacturing center. This transformation shows how traditional automotive plants are adapting to new electric vehicle technology.
