Maurice K. Goddard State Park

Maurice K. Goddard State Park is a 2,856-acre protected area centered on Lake Wilhelm, a 1,860-acre reservoir. Forests, wetlands, and meadows surround the lake and provide habitat for diverse animals and birds.

The park opened in 1972 and was named after Maurice K. Goddard, a conservation leader who championed the creation of state parks within reach of Pennsylvania residents. His work shaped how state parks are distributed across the region.

The park hosts seasonal community events including Pioneer Frolic and Music at the Marina that draw visitors throughout the year. These gatherings show how locals and travelers use the space to spend time together.

The park has a 12.2-mile paved path circling Lake Wilhelm for walking and biking, plus a marina with around 241 boat slips for water recreation. Picnic areas, swimming spots, and boat launch ramps are spread around the lake shore.

The lake serves as a stopover for migratory waterfowl in spring and fall, and supports nesting populations of bald eagles and ospreys. Visitors often spot these birds of prey during their visits to the shoreline.
