The Middle Mountain Cabins complex includes three rustic structures: one main rectangular log cabin and two identical frame buildings with gable roofs.
The Forest Service constructed these cabins in 1931 to house fire lookouts and support operations within the Monongahela National Forest administrative system.
The architectural design of these cabins represents the traditional construction methods used in early 20th-century forest service facilities across West Virginia.

The main cabin measures 22 by 20 feet with a full-length porch, while cabins 1 and 2 are mirror images at 25 by 14 feet each.
