Riverview at Hobson Grove, Historic mansion in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Riverview at Hobson Grove is a mansion in Bowling Green built in the Renaissance Revival style with symmetrical design, arched windows, and decorative brackets along the eaves. A prominent cupola sits atop the structure, and the property includes landscaped gardens within Hobson Grove Park.

Construction started in the 1850s but stopped when the Civil War began and Confederate forces used the unfinished building to store military supplies. After the war ended, work resumed and the house was completed to become a full residence.

The home reflects how wealthy bankers lived in Kentucky during the 1800s through its carefully designed architectural details and rooms that remain much as they were. Visitors walking through the interior can see how the family organized their daily lives.

Visitors can take guided tours through the mansion and gardens, with special programs offered throughout the year at Hobson Grove Park. It helps to check ahead for scheduled events, as these can add to your visit experience.

The house has an advanced water system from the 1800s with a copper-lined wooden tank for collecting water. Ventilation for this system works through a round window called an oculus hidden under the cupola, a clever feature ahead of its time.
