The park occupies a complete block bordered by Broadway, Columbia Street, James Street, and Steuben Street in the center of Albany.
The park was constructed in 1986 to mark the 300th anniversary of Albany's incorporation, following a design initially proposed in 1914.
The bronze city seal designed by cartoonist Hy Rosen stands as the first monument installed within the grounds of Tricentennial Park.
The park receives the most visitors between 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and noon to 8:00 PM, offering benches and walking paths throughout.
A time capsule containing videos and artifacts rests within the park, scheduled for opening in 2086, marking Albany's 400th anniversary.
