USS Hazard, Military museum ship in Freedom Park, Omaha, United States.
The USS Hazard is a preserved Admirable-class minesweeper on display at Freedom Park in Omaha. The vessel shows original crew spaces, equipment, and work areas exactly as sailors used them during World War II.
The ship was built to clear sea mines during World War II and protected American fleets from dangerous waters. After the war, it survived while many other vessels of its class were scrapped.
The ship honors the work of sailors who kept dangerous waters safe during wartime. Today, visitors can see how crew members worked closely together in the tight spaces below deck.
Visitors can walk through the ship on their own and explore all decks and engine rooms without needing a car once there. The park sits right on the river and has parking and other facilities nearby.
The ship actually served in combat near Okinawa during the war and earned three battle stars for its service. Today, visitors can see where shrapnel damaged the outer hull of the vessel.
