United Office Building, Art Deco skyscraper in Niagara Falls, United States
The United Office Building rises twenty stories high with a steel frame, brick walls, and terra cotta decorative elements on its facade.
Constructed in 1929 by architect James A. Johnson, the building served as a commercial hub until its decline in the 1980s and subsequent vacancy.
The building incorporates Mayan Revival architectural elements throughout its structure, including pink granite bas-relief sculptures featuring Mesoamerican figures.
Following a 10-million-dollar renovation in 2010, the structure now functions as The Giacomo, containing 17 apartments, office spaces, and 49 hotel rooms.
The structure maintained its position as the tallest building in Niagara Falls from 1929 until 2005, when the Seneca Niagara Casino surpassed its height.
