The three-story brick Vista Theater features classical architectural details and a deep rear balcony with Art Deco decorative elements throughout the structure.
Jafet Rytkonen established the Vista Theater in 1926, managing it until 1950 when his son William and son-in-law Peter Ghiardi assumed operations.
The Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council transformed the Vista Theater from a cinema into a performing arts center in 1973, expanding its artistic programming.
Located at 218 Iron Street, the theater maintains a seating capacity of 511 and currently presents stage productions, classic films, and musical performances.
Following a roof collapse in 2020, the City of Negaunee purchased the theater and initiated restoration work, including a new roof installation in March 2024.
