The building was established in 1890 as the Second German Baptist Church, designed by architect Henry Franklin Kilburn. It was converted into a theatre space in 1976 and has served the performing arts since then.
The venue stages a range of theatrical productions that draw both local and touring audiences year after year. Performances span from established musicals to experimental works that shape the cultural life of the neighborhood.
The theatre is located at 407 West 43rd Street and is easily accessible via the A, C, and E subway lines. The box office opens at noon on performance days and stays open until 6:00 PM, providing information for visitors.
From 1996 to 2008, it hosted one of the longest-running Off-Broadway productions, setting duration records in the city's theatre history. This remarkable run made the venue a landmark for sustained artistic collaboration.
