Pershing Square Signature Center, Theatre complex in Hell's Kitchen, United States
The Pershing Square Signature Center is a theater building with three performance spaces in Hell's Kitchen. It houses the Irene Diamond Stage, the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, and the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, along with two rehearsal studios, a cafe, a bookstore, and administrative offices.
The building was designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 2012 as part of the MiMa Building apartment complex. This facility marked an important turning point for a theater company that previously had no permanent home and gained a lasting space in this neighborhood.
This is the home of Signature Theatre Company, which focuses on new plays and revivals while developing relationships with selected playwrights over time. The company presents extended runs of work and builds connections between audiences and the artists who perform here regularly.
The location is on West 42nd Street and is easily accessible by public transportation in central Manhattan. The cafe is open from noon to midnight and offers a comfortable place to relax before or after a performance.
The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre is designed in the style of a European opera house and holds only 191 seats, creating an intimate theater experience within a modern building. The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre can reconfigure its seating arrangement based on the needs of each production and adapts to different types of stagings.
