Yoctangee Park, Municipal park in Chillicothe, Ohio, United States.
Yoctangee Park is a municipal park spanning about 48 acres with a 12-acre lake at its center, complemented by sports fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts. The grounds include multiple shelters, picnic areas, and an accessible playground near the Historic First Capital District.
The park was originally established in 1875 as City Park and renamed in the 1890s by William H. Hunter using a Native American word meaning paint. The name change reflected efforts to recognize the region's earlier heritage.
The restored Victorian Gothic Pump House from 1882 now serves as an arts center with regular exhibitions and community events. It functions as a cultural gathering place for residents throughout the year.
The park provides numerous facilities spread across its grounds including softball diamonds, shelters, and restroom areas for visitor convenience. An accessible playground ensures families with mobility considerations can enjoy the space.
The grounds include the Catherine and Holden Corzine Memorial Dog Park with separate sections for small and large dogs, complete with water stations for both animals and their owners. Few visitors realize this dedicated pet space exists within the larger park.
