Seip House

The Seip House is a brick building with two and a half stories, slate roof, and sandstone foundation located on Allen Avenue. The structure combines traditional craftsmanship with Queen Anne details and is now protected as a historic property.

Charles Seip, who arrived from Germany, built this residence in 1895 on the former site of his butcher shop. The house marks the shift from commercial activity to prosperous residential use in that neighborhood.

The house displays Queen Anne architectural features with asymmetrical facades and decorative details typical of wealthy households in the late 1800s. Visitors can observe the ornamental elements and elaborate design that reflected the owner's social standing.

The building now serves as a forestry office and remains visible from outside with its historic facade intact. Visitors should note that this is an active administrative building and can only be viewed from the exterior.

Official recognition as a historic landmark in 1981 highlighted the building's architectural importance to the region. This acknowledgment came decades after construction, reflecting how immigrant entrepreneurs shaped local heritage.
