Jacobs Hill, Nature reserve in Royalston, Massachusetts, US.
Jacobs Hill is a 173-acre nature reserve in Royalston containing woodlands, rocky ledges, and wetland areas. The protected landscape includes Spirit Falls, a 30-foot waterfall that marks one of the most notable features within the reserve.
The Trustees of Reservations acquired this land in 1975 with the help of anonymous donors. Additional sections were added to the reserve in 1978 and 1994 to expand its protected boundaries.
The reserve is part of the extensive Tully Trail system, which connects multiple natural areas throughout the region for public recreation and environmental learning opportunities.
The trailhead can be accessed from Massachusetts Route 68, about half a mile from Royalston center. Parking is available for visitors, though conditions may vary depending on the season and recent weather.
From the elevated ledges, visitors can see panoramic views of the Berkshires, Long Pond, Tully River Valley, Tully Mountain, and Mount Grace all from a single vantage point. This rare combination of overlooks makes the higher reaches of the reserve especially worthwhile to reach.
