Red Flower Rising

Red Flower Rising is a painted aluminum sculpture located at Milwaukee Public Market, featuring abstract shapes that resemble a plant in growth. The structure stands at the corner of Broadway Street and East St. Paul Avenue, marking the entrance to this marketplace.

The sculpture was erected in 2007 in front of Milwaukee Public Market as a memorial to Jeffry A. Posner in the Historic Third Ward. This installation emerged from efforts to enhance the public spaces in the district with contemporary art.

This artwork shows how modern artists bring creativity into everyday public spaces where people gather and shop. The colorful presence here adds visual interest to a busy commercial area.

The sculpture sits in a public location right at the market entrance and is easy to view while visiting the area. The open setting provides different viewing angles, especially during daytime when natural light highlights the painted surfaces.
