Topiary Lucere, Illuminated sculpture in downtown Milwaukee, US

Topiary Lucere is an illuminated sculpture in downtown Milwaukee that features six low concrete forms resembling chess pieces positioned between square evergreen shrubs. These elements frame a central plaza area and create a symmetrical arrangement.

Artist Steve Feren created this sculpture in 2001 using concrete, glass, and optical fiber as materials. The work represents a modern addition to Milwaukee's public art landscape.

The installation belongs to Milwaukee's public art collection and bridges architecture with nature through geometric design. You can observe how the symmetrical concrete forms and the trimmed evergreens work together to create a balanced visual composition.

The sculpture sits near the corner of Plankinton and Wisconsin Avenues beside a Marriott Hotel. After dark, you can see the LED lighting change colors across the forms.

A central obelisk holds a textured glass ornament that glows from within, marking the focal point of the plaza. Ground lights around the sculpture create additional visual effects that become especially visible after sunset.
