Wildi Frau

Wildi Frau is a rocky alpine summit in the Bernese Alps with steep walls and permanent snow coverage throughout much of the year. The peak sits within a dramatic landscape of rock faces and connects to neighboring mountains and glaciated terrain.

Over generations, the peak became known to mountaineers exploring the Bernese Alps and crossing between distant valleys. The location served as a landmark on routes connecting settlements across the alpine region.

Local climbers regularly gather at the Blüemlisalp Hut near Wildi Frau to share experiences and prepare for their ascents in the Swiss mountaineering tradition.

Climbing here requires mountaineering gear and solid technical skills, especially on the steeper sections where secure handholds and firm footing are essential. Starting early and watching the weather closely will help ensure safer conditions throughout the ascent.

Between this peak and neighboring mountains, glaciers and steep rock faces meet at different elevations, creating unusual ice formations where these elements interact. This geological arrangement produces an interesting blend of frozen and rocky terrain that few visitors notice in detail.
