Haus Latum, Architectural heritage monument in Meerbusch, Germany

Haus Latum is a manor complex in Meerbusch with a two-story residential building surrounded by water moats on three sides and brick farm structures. The layout is defined by its fortified water position and regularly arranged buildings that form a classic estate farmstead.

The estate first appears in documents from 1186 and was rebuilt around 1686 following its destruction in 1642 during the Thirty Years War. This reconstruction largely determined the appearance of the property as it stands today.

The property reflects traditional regional residential architecture with brick details and distinctive roof forms that shape the local character. Visitors walking around the structures can observe these architectural features that define the area's identity.

The grounds are located in Meerbusch-Lank at Bismarckstrasse and can be viewed from public areas, with the water-side sections best observed from accessible paths around the estate. Protected status preserves the structure and maintains its original layout for visitors to explore.

The estate originally maintained its own house chaplain until the late 1700s and owned woodland areas near the town of Linn. These practices reveal how self-sufficient and locally important this property was during its prosperous period.
