El Retiro Park, Urban park in Jerónimos district, Madrid, Spain

El Retiro Park spans 125 hectares with 15,000 trees, including gardens, monuments, and a central artificial lake for rowing activities.

Created in the 1630s as royal gardens for King Felipe IV, the park opened to the public after partial destruction during the War of Independence.

The Glass Palace and Velázquez Palace function as exhibition spaces for contemporary art installations through the Reina Sofía Museum program.

The park opens from 6:00 AM until 10:00 PM during winter months and extends until midnight from April through September.

The Fallen Angel statue stands at exactly 666 meters above sea level, making it one of few monuments dedicated to Lucifer worldwide.
