The Palacio del Marqués de Monesterio is a Renaissance palace on Calle San Bartolomé in Logroño with an ornate stone facade displaying coats of arms and graceful arcades. The interior courtyard is arranged in Renaissance style and surrounded by symmetrical columns.
The palace was built in the 16th century by Francisco de Tejada as an upper-class residence. During the 18th century, significant renovations under the Marqueses del Monesterio established much of its current appearance.
The building reflects Spanish noble architecture and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site along the Way of Saint James. Its name connects directly to the Marqueses del Monesterio, who shaped the palace during the 18th century.
The palace is centrally located in Logroño and easily reached on foot. Since 2009, it functions as an administrative building for social security services and is typically accessible during business hours.
During the 19th century, the palace served multiple purposes including housing French military troops and later operating as an art school. At one point, it contained 16 small apartments for various residents.
