Arthur's Pike

Arthur's Pike, Fell in Lake District, England.

Description

Arthur's Pike is a fell in England's Lake District that stands 533 meters high. Its northwestern face displays layered crags that rise above the farmland below.

History

The High Street Roman road once ran near the southeastern section of this fell during the Roman occupation of Britain. This ancient route shaped human movement through this mountainous region for nearly 2000 years.

Culture

The summit contains a beacon cairn marking the edge of the cliff face, following traditional Lake District fell marking methods.

Practical

You can begin climbing from Swarthbeck along the Howtown road or use the High Street Roman road as an entry point. Wear proper footwear and come prepared for changing weather on the exposed upper sections.

Did you know?

This fell forms a subsidiary peak on a ridge extending northward from Loadpot Hill and sits between several higher neighbors. From its top, you gain views across the surrounding ridges and valleys that define this mountainous region.
