Stybarrow Dodd, Mountain summit in Lake District Eastern Fells, England.
Stybarrow Dodd is a mountain summit in the Lake District Eastern Fells rising to 843 meters with a rounded grassy top. Four distinct ridges radiate from the peak toward the surrounding valleys and water courses below.
The name comes from dialect words meaning 'hill of the steep path', referring to an ancient crossing route over Sticks Pass. This route has been in use since the 16th century for traversing the hills.
The mountain forms part of The Three Dodds, a local grouping that connects it with neighboring summits as a single walking experience. Visitors often tackle all three peaks together as a popular circuit through this part of the Lake District.
Several walking paths lead up from nearby Glenridding and other starting points like Dockray and High Row toward the summit. The ascent suits most hikers in dry conditions, though weather can change quickly at altitude.
The actual highest point sits about 15 meters southeast of the marked cairn, rising just slightly above the surrounding ground. Most visitors do not notice this subtle difference during their visit.
