Glenridding Dodd, Mountain summit in Lake District, England

Glenridding Dodd is a mountain summit in the Eastern Fells region standing at 442 meters high. Rocky outcrops and heather patches create its distinctive appearance across the landscape.

A stone boundary marker near the summit displays the letters M and H marking the division between Marshall family and Howard family territories. This marker reflects the long-standing property divisions that once defined the area.

The name combines references to a valley filled with bracken and a local dialect term for a rounded hilltop. This naming reflects how people in the region perceive and describe the mountain's shape and setting.

Multiple hiking paths connect the summit to Glenridding village, with The Rake offering a direct route to the col between this peak and Sheffield Pike. The trails remain accessible throughout the year, though the terrain can become slippery in wet weather.

The mountain is composed of rocks from the Borrowdale Volcanic Group, formed through intense volcanic activity around 450 million years ago. This geological foundation shapes what visitors see when they observe the rocky outcrops and understand the ancient origins of the landscape.
