Aruvithura St. George's Syro-Malabar Catholic Forane Church

Aruvithura St. George's is a Syro-Malabar Catholic church featuring a cruciform structure with Gothic styling and a prominent statue of St. George positioned above the main altar. The building combines religious symbolism with traditional construction elements characteristic of Kerala's architectural heritage.

The site's origins trace to the first century when tradition holds that Apostle Thomas placed a cross on the banks of the Meenachil River. The current church was established later, with families bringing a statue of St. George during the 14th century.

The church displays a notable blend of Christian and Hindu design elements, reflecting architectural traditions common in Kerala's religious buildings. Local Christians here have long integrated their faith with regional building practices and materials.
