New Zuari Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Goa, India.
New Zuari Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in the state of Goa, India, crossing the Zuari River to link the northern and southern districts. The roadway extends over eight lanes and is supported by two tall pylons that span the river waters in a wide arc.
Construction began in 2016 with the goal of relieving the older crossing over the river. The northbound direction opened in 2022, with the southbound side following a year later.
The steel cables form a pattern against the sky that has become a landmark of the coastal region and appears often in local media. Locals sometimes call the link simply "the second bridge," distinguishing it from the older structure nearby that still carries some traffic.
Crossing the roadway during daylight hours offers views of the river estuary and the green hills of the surrounding area. The wide lanes allow for smooth traffic flow even during peak travel periods in the region.
Robotic welding techniques were used in assembling the composite deck, speeding up the construction process. Following a comparable structure in Mumbai, this link is the second longest of its kind in the country.
