Castello della Magione

Castello della Magione is a medieval commandry in Poggibonsi with a trapezoidal layout aligned along the River Staggia. The complex contains an inner courtyard, convent buildings, guest quarters, and remains of an extensive medieval hospital facility.

The site was donated in 1140 to monks of Saint Michael Abbey and later became a strategic outpost for the Knights Templar. It stood along the important pilgrimage route Via Francigena and served to control passage through the region.

The castle houses organizations focused on Templar history and scholarly publishing. Visitors can observe how the site functions as a center for research and knowledge sharing today.
