Minnami no Sato, Community center in Kamogawa, Japan.
Minnami no Sato is a community center positioned at the foothills of Mount Mineoka and serves as a gathering point with an integrated MUJI store and Café & Meal MUJI. The facility combines a rest area with shopping and dining options in a single connected complex.
The center opened in March 1999 and underwent major renovations in 2017 with modern updates to its design. The updated interior layout was completed in April 2018.
The name comes from a poem by local writer Chikashi Koizumi, who described Mount Mineoka from his home. This literary connection shapes how the space feels, creating a setting where visitors sense the link between the building and its natural surroundings.
The center is accessible by taking the JR Sotobo Line to Awa-Kamogawa Station and then the Kamogawa Nitto Bus to the final stop. This route brings visitors directly to the entrance.
The entire rest area is operated and filled with MUJI products by Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., emphasizing simplicity and functionality. This clear design approach shapes every aspect of the visitor experience.
