Miyazaki City Phoenix Zoo

The Phoenix Zoo spans 140,000 square meters and houses 1,200 animals from 100 species, including Asian elephants, Masai giraffes, and chimpanzees.

The Phoenix Zoo opened in March 1971 and became a municipal facility of Miyazaki City in September 2001, situated on pine-covered hills along the Hitotsuba coast.

The zoo functions as a living museum, offering educational programs through partnerships with local schools to enhance children's understanding of wildlife conservation.

The facility operates from 9:00 to 17:00, with admission prices of 840 yen for adults, 420 yen for middle school students, and 310 yen for elementary students.

The zoo presents a daily Flying Flamingo Show featuring 70 flamingos performing synchronized movements, complemented by elephant walking demonstrations.
