Kashii-Kaen, Amusement park in Kasumigaoka, Japan.
Kashii-Kaen is an amusement park in Kasumigaoka, Japan, that combines rides with garden paths and planted beds throughout the grounds. The site spreads over several levels, and between roller coasters and carousels you find green islands with ponds, stone lanterns and benches under shade trees.
The park opened in 1956 as one of the first postwar leisure facilities in the Fukuoka area. Over the following decades, rides were updated and garden sections expanded, maintaining the original idea of mixing entertainment with green space.
Families come here during cherry blossom weeks in spring and return for autumn foliage walks, following a longstanding tradition in this part of Fukuoka. The garden sections become meeting points where visitors pause to admire seasonal flowers before choosing which ride to try next.
Several entrances lead onto the grounds, and food stands plus rest areas near the ponds are found throughout the park. Public transport from downtown Fukuoka is a good choice, because parking can fill up on weekends.
The garden areas were placed between rides from the start, rather than being pushed to the edges. This creates a slow rhythm where you step from excitement straight back into greenery after each turn.
